Puerto Guarani
Our first stop was at Puerto Guarani, often referred to as the Post Office at the End of the World. It is the southernmost post office in the world and is located at the end of the Pan American Highway on Ensenade Bay on the shore of the Beagle Channel.

Ensenada Zaratiegui Bay information sign.
The bay looks out on the Beagle Channel. The sign identifies Isla Redonda (Redonda Island), Isla Hosta (Hosta Island) in Chile, Punta Entrada (Entrada Point), Punta Italam (Italam Island) and Mesa Real. The mountains in the background are the Andes.

Sendas Pampa Alta trail sign.
This trail is 6 miles round trip and starts here.

Senda Costera (coast path)
The trail begins along the coast. We didn't have a chance to take the hike. Punta Entrada, Punta Italam, and Meas Real are in the background.

Sendas Trail
It's common to see horses roaming around. Most are owned but left to wander.

Mesa Real

Another stop in the park.
It was a very wet day!

Mistletoe
The round plant attached to the tree is Mistletoe. It is a parasitic plant and is seen throughout the area.

Provincia of Tierra del Fuego
This map shows the entire Tierra del Fuego territory or state. The city of Ushuaia and the National Park make up only a small part of the providence. This tour took us to where the arrow points at the end of Route 3.

Welcome to the Tierra del Fuego National Park sign.

Crested Caracara
The Crested Caracara looks like a hawk with its sharp beak and talons, behaves like a vulture, and is technically a large tropical black-and-white falcon. (From The Cornell Lab All about Birds website.)

Bahia Lapataia (Lapataia Bay) at the End of the World.
The southern most point in Argentina BAHIA LAPATAIA (LAPATAIA BAY) is the most southern point of the longest highway on the planet. This sign marks the end of National Route 3, the last leg of the Pan-American Highway network. This is the farthest south you can drive in the Western Hemisphere. The sign shows the distance from where I’m standing to Buenos Aires and to Alaska.

Las Malvinas or more commonly known as The Falkland Islands.
Argentina claims these Islands even though they lost the Falklands War in 1982 to the British. These islands have a very interesting history and have been claimed by many countries since the early 1600's. The sign shows the distance from this point to the islands.
